6 Empowering Questions

Often times when we are challenged, it is easy to slip into this place of anger, fear, and disempowerment. It’s an ugly place to be, it doesn’t serve you, and most of all, it’s inauthentic. Last week I found myself in several challenging situations, and the most challenging of all, was my reaction to it.

One of the greatest lessons I have learned in life is how to reframe my prayers – not to pray for strength or courage, but to pray for situations in which I can be strong and demonstrate courage. This is how we know the condition of our hearts – when we actually have to walk it out.

While listening to one of my favorite mentors this morning, I received 6 empowering questions to ask yourself when faced with a challenge.

1. What’s right about this?

2. What gifts and talents do I have that can help this?

3. What is it that I need to learn from this?

4. Where is the blessing in this?

5. What qualities are wanting to emerge in me as a result of this?

6. How can I make this fun?

As Shawn says, ask yourself these questions early and often. And remember, it’s not about what you get, it’s about who you become in the process.
